Priscilla Smith (Palmieri) is a teaching artist.

Palmieri studied at the School of Visual Arts and Syracuse University, earning a BFA in 2014 with a dual major in painting and art education. Over the years her work has been widely exhibited across Long Island in several selected group exhibitions including Ripe Art Gallery and the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery.

Fueled by her passion for experiential design, Priscilla collaborates with multiple institutions to bring communities together through art. She has completed several murals in various public spaces such as One Life CF, as well as in retail locations and hospitality environments such as O’Beehave and American Beauty.

Palmieri serves as a member to art organizations including the Art League of Long Island and the Patchogue Arts Council. Her work has been featured in online magazines such as the Long Island Pulse and Fragile Express.

Her current work explores the concept of relationships and intimacy.

Steeped in curiosity of how humans interact in today’s society, she captures the figure positioned with technology.
Each piece in this new body of work is a unique segue into this ongoing visual conversation, of the impacts this form of interpersonal communication.

One Life Project

Spiritual Growth & Self-Love: Untold Stories
In 2018 Palmieri was invited by the One Life Project to complete a mural highlighting their shared goals in bringing awareness to the importance of self-growth. Project One Life was established in early 2018 to serve as a visual reminder that change is ever present and manifests both internally and eternally of ourselves. CrossFit One Life’s environment, in Glen Clove, New York, serves perfectly to highlight the juxtaposition between our physical and spiritual evolution.

This intense study derived from her own personal journey of self-growth. She was inspired to visually capture the women and their stories. The direct in-depth and ongoing conversations with the volunteer models grew into something unexpected and beautiful.

“It began with my sisters sharing their pain, struggles, and finally recognizing all that hey have overcome.”

“Friends offered to be involved and the conversations brought us even closer. Some women pictured contacted me online and we have never met in person. The entire process was so powerful for myself and the women who graciously trusted me with their personal stories. It was perfect timing when One Life reached out, and together we celebrated the beauty in open communication.”

The opening reception to the public exhibited her series of paintings along side the mural. This series of acrylic paintings pictures women loosely captured with intense color.
