The Makers Exchange Project
This year we’ve reimagined what an online May for Makers looks like. One idea we came up with to make it more personal and engaging for members of the maker community is by getting hands-on through a project.
The project consists of making something based on a theme and having the choice to 1. exchange your hand-made item with another participant or 2. have it on display via our online-gallery (or both).
It’s not unheard of for people to struggle getting their work out there and seen by the public aside from Instagram. We want to offer those the opportunity to have their work exhibited in an art show-like fashion where viewers can take a longer look and spend time learning about you and/or your business oppose to quick scrolling.
-
Make something inspired by the given theme: “Unity & Togetherness”. The design, process and materials are entirely up to you. Enjoy the process that comes with creating something you know someone else might receive and for others taking part in the challenge to see.
Documenting the process is a great way to generate content for your page and assist in completing the daily prompts. -
In the spirit of togetherness, giving can be a feel-good experience. It becomes even more so knowing you’ll also be receiving something hand-made with intention and meaning. With this in mind, when making your piece consider things such as size for shipping costs/reasons.
Exchanging your work is optional and not at all required to participate in the project. To be assigned to your recipient please make sure to click the correct checkbox option on the submission form by May 31st. Once you receive the information from us, you are responsible for contacting and shipping.
-
To celebrate we’ll be hosting an online reception at the end of the month, open to those who participated in the project as well as any members of the community or those interested in attending.
To be included in the show please complete the form no later than May 27th.
