FLOURISH IN LIFE THROUGH ART AND RESOURCES FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS
Empowering Women with Endometriosis and Spreading Awareness through Art, Education, and Community.
FLARE (Flourish through Life with Art and Resources for Endometriosis) is on the road to becoming an official national nonprofit organization created to support people living with endometriosis through art, education, and community. It was built from a simple but often overlooked truth: chronic illness is not just physical, it is emotional, isolating, and deeply personal. Too many people are dismissed, misunderstood, or left navigating their experiences alone. FLARE exists to change that by creating a space that feels human, honest, and genuinely supportive.
At its core, FLARE believes that healing is not one-dimensional. Through creative expression, storytelling, and shared experiences, individuals are given the space to process pain, reclaim their voice, and feel seen in ways that traditional resources often overlook. Art becomes more than creativity, it becomes a language for resilience, identity, and hope. Every initiative is designed to support emotional well-being while reminding individuals that their experiences are valid and their voices matter.
Through its three pillars, FLARE invites people to not just receive support, but to actively participate in it. Whether through collaborative art projects, awareness campaigns, or safe community spaces, FLARE is building something deeper than awareness alone. It is a place where vulnerability is respected, connection is real, and individuals living with chronic illness can still flourish creatively, emotionally, and personally—even in the presence of pain.
We cultivate curated exhibitions, lived storytelling, and accessible resources, while building a collaborative community of contributors and leaders who sustain and expand the movement.

FLARE (Flourish through Life with Art and Resources for Endometriosis) is on the road to becoming an official 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers people living with endometriosis through art, education, and community.
-
This organization was created from the understanding that living with a chronic illness is not only physically painful, but often emotionally isolating. Many people feel misunderstood, dismissed, or invisible while trying to navigate a condition that affects every part of their lives. FLARE exists to change that experience.
FLARE believes that creative expression can be a powerful form of healing. Art allows people to express pain, hope, identity, and resilience in ways that words alone often cannot. Through creative projects, art workshops, shared stories, and supportive community spaces, FLARE helps people feel seen, heard, and understood.
FLARE aims to build a community where honesty is encouraged, vulnerability is respected, and strength is defined not by perfection, but by resilience. Every project created through FLARE is designed to improve emotional well-being and quality of life for those affected by chronic illness. Ultimately, FLARE is designed to help individuals living with endometriosis and chronic illness flourish — emotionally, creatively, and personally — even in the presence of pain.
-
FLARE exists because too many people living with endometriosis and chronic illness feel invisible. Too often they are told their pain is normal, exaggerated, or something they simply have to live with. Too many individuals go years without answers, without support, and without a space where they're allowed to feel truly understood. Living with a chronic illness is not only a physical experience — it can affect self esteem, confidence, creativity, relationships, and overall emotional well-being. FLARE was created to acknowledge it all, not just the medical side.
FLARE understands that healing doesn’t always happen through medical treatment alone. Art, creativity, storytelling, and shared experiences are powerful tools to process pain and transform it into something positive and meaningful. FLARE was created to fill a gap that still exists for so many individuals navigating endometriosis on their own. It provides a space that feels honest instead of clinical– support that feels human instead of distant– resources that make people feel seen rather than dismissed.
FLARE exists to remind people that their experiences are real, their voices matter, and their lives can still hold creativity, strength, and hope even in the presence of pain.
-
FLARE serves people navigating daily life while managing pain, fatigue, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of endometriosis. Through participating in art workshops, sharing stories, and cultivating safe spaces, FLARE wields creativity to process, express, and make sense of experiences that are often difficult to put into words.
FLARE welcomes artists, advocates, and supporters who believe in the power of creative expression as part of the healing process. FLARE hopes to attract those who want to contribute to building something meaningful and lasting. . At its core, FLARE provides reassurance that every experience is valid, every voice matters, and that even in the midst of chronic illness, there is still room for creativity, hope, and connection.
-
Art is the foundation of FLARE. While the organization focuses on supporting individuals living with endometriosis, that support is delivered through creativity and artistic expression. By keeping art at its core, FLARE ensures that creativity remains central to everything the organization offers as it continues to grow. For many individuals living with chronic illness like endometriosis, words alone cannot fully capture their experiences. Art provides a way to communicate symptoms that are often difficult to describe.. Through creative expression, individuals can convey pain, strength, fear, hope, and resilience in a way that feels deeply personal and meaningful.
Another important aspect of FLARE's art mission is visibility. Art makes experiences that are often invisible visible. By sharing work through exhibitions, creative projects, and community initiatives, individuals help others better understand what it means to live with chronic illness. This not only raises awareness but also allows participants to feel seen, heard and supported.
As FLARE grows into a national nonprofit, the art mission will continue to guide every creative project connected to the organization. Whether through exhibitions, art workshops, creative journals, or collaborative projects, creativity will remain central to the mission. the mission.
FLARE exists not only to support individuals but to give them a creative voice. The art mission ensures that expression, emotional honesty, and the power of creativity stay at the heart of everything the organization continues to build.

These pillars bring the mission of FLARE to life. Rather than simply speaking about emotional support and creativity, these initiatives invite individuals to actively experience it. FLARE’s pillars are intentionally designed to work in harmony: art provides a means of expression, education cultivates understanding, and community ensures that no one feels alone in their journey. FLARE is built on three core pillars that guide how the organization operates. Through art, education, and community, FLARE creates initiatives that invite individuals to actively participate, express themselves, and feel understood through shared experiences. Rather than focusing only on raising awareness, FLARE aims to empower and provide support in a way that feels personal, creative, and emotionally supportive.
The first pillar, art, focuses on using creativity as a powerful tool for self expression, healing, and processing pain. The goal is to provide a safe space where individuals can transform their pain into something positive and powerful. Through initiatives such as collaborative community art projects, art-therapy-inspired journals, collaborative awareness campaigns, virtual art galleries, and visual storytelling, FLARE empowers individuals to process their experiences in meaningful, validating ways.
The second pillar, education, leads with compassion to provide resources to inform individuals. Through social media content, personal-story awareness campaigns, podcast and interview series, health resources, and creative materials that combine art and awareness, our goal is to educate while prioritizing their well being.
The third pillar, community focuses on fostering a safe and emotionally supportive space where individuals living with endometriosis no longer feel isolated. Through creative projects, online support spaces, collaborative public awareness campaigns, and opportunities for individuals to share their experiences, FLARE works to build meaningful connections through creativity and shared stories.

About the Project
FLARE: Illuminating Endometriosis
A Community Art Exhibition
FLARE is an exhibition that brings together artists whose work explores the lived experience of women’s health, chronic illness, and the often invisible realities of pain within the body. Through diverse artistic practices, the exhibition examines how personal and collective narratives surrounding women’s health are expressed, suppressed, or misunderstood within social and medical contexts.
Gallery
The FLARE Gallery is a growing space for creative expression from artists whose lives have been touched by endometriosis. Our vision is to build a vibrant virtual gallery where artwork and stories can be shared, discovered, and celebrated by a global community.
At the same time, we’re already working toward our first in-person exhibitions, where artists will have the opportunity to gather, connect, and showcase their work in a real gallery setting.
This space is meant to grow with the community, and every piece shared helps shape what FLARE becomes.
We want to see your art. This form is a simple way to submit photos of yourself and your work, giving us permission to feature them on the FLARE website and Instagram.
This isn’t the official exhibition application, but is a chance to start sharing your story, connect with others, and inspire the community.
Every piece matters, and your creativity can help others living with endometriosis feel seen and understood.

The Founder
Priscilla Smith is an artist, educator, and endometriosis advocate whose work blends creativity with women’s health awareness. After surviving multiple life-threatening complications related to severe Stage IV endometriosis—including major surgeries, organ involvement, and significant blood loss—she founded FLARE (Flourishing in Life with Art and Resources for Endometriosis).
Through art, storytelling, and education, Priscilla is committed to helping women feel seen, supported, and empowered while bringing greater awareness to a disease that is often misunderstood and underdiagnosed.
-
Her journey with endometriosis began long before she knew the name of the disease. At just 13 years old, she underwent an emergency bowel resection after being misdiagnosed with diverticulitis—an early sign of what would later be understood as severe endometriosis.
In 2021, Priscilla finally received her true diagnosis: Stage IV endometriosis, where the disease had fused organs including her uterus and bladder. Despite years of pain and difficulty conceiving, she went on to welcome her first daughter in 2022. After another mass was discovered on her ovary, she became pregnant again in 2023. During the birth of her second daughter, complications during a cesarean section led to an emergency supracervical hysterectomy when she hemorrhaged and nearly lost her life.
Her journey continued this year with another major surgery to remove deeply infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) that had again fused multiple pelvic organs together. Surgeons removed her cervix and ovaries while carefully excising disease from surrounding structures. Postoperative complications included significant blood loss, revealing an underlying clotting disorder, and a collapsed lung caused by blood entering the pleural cavity, requiring emergency intervention.
Through every chapter—from misdiagnosis to motherhood, from survival to recovery—Priscilla emerged with a renewed purpose. These experiences inspired her to create FLARE: Flourishing in Life with Art and Resources for Endometriosis.
FLARE is a creative advocacy organization dedicated to raising awareness, empowering women, and transforming the often-silent struggles of endometriosis into visibility, community, and healing through art, storytelling, and education. Priscilla believes that even the most painful journeys can ignite a light for others—and that no woman facing this disease should feel alone.
