May for Makers is an effortless, fun and free online challenge meant to drive just about everyone together. It’s a virtual event where like-minded makers and artists meet to form relationships and build connections with businesses and brands.

It is more than 31 Daily Prompts, it’s month-long inspiration and motivation for makers and artists.

  • We provide 31 prompts, from silly, serious and open-ended to get you brainstorming and creating fun, thoughtful content, open to your unique interpretation. Silly, serious, and heart-felt, these prompts sre invented with purpose and are completely open-ended. It’s all up to how you interpret it. Watch the full video about the challenge to learn more.

    Each year we discover new and different inspiring makers/artists out there in the world, build connections and make new life-long friends. It’s a win-win for everyone that gets involved!

    In 2021, one year after the first May for Makers challenge,  we wanted to find a way to keep the spirit going and provide an outlet to connect other makers year-round. That’s when we created @andtheymake as a way to leave the door open, conversation going and good vibes flowing. Be sure to check it out and follow to discover other like-minded creatives and be featured yourself.

    As a way of giving back to the community we team up with some incredible sponsors who donate prizes to be given away. We can’t thank them enough for being so supportive of the makers within this community, so be sure to show them some love too!

  • This year we’ve partnered with a great group of sponsors to provide the community with more value and to connect brands with other makers and artists. There will be various methods of entry for the different giveaways.

    To give everyone ample time to enter each giveaway, the entry forms will be open for the entire month. The winners will then be announced the first week of June.

  • Get hands-on and make something along the centralized theme of “Unity and Togetherness” with the intention to either exchange your piece with a fellow maker or have it on display (or both). Learn more here.

  • Join us for weekly video chats to hang out and connect “in-person”. Enjoy great conversation with like-minded creatives as we share our experiences throughout the month. Find the dates here.

The Story

In 2020 we wanted to find a fun way to bring creative people together, provide inspiration and boost motivation for others.

This will be the 6th year that the challenge is taking place and it is amazing to see how many of you take part and make new connections! We are all about spreading positivity within the Maker Community and connecting other makers, who otherwise may not have found each other. This online challenge is one way we continue to do so.
